GENERAL RULES

  1. Market swine must be owned by exhibitors by May 1.

  2. Market hogs must weigh at least 200 pounds to be exhibited in show and sold at sale. Any market swine weighing over 200 pounds is eligible for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion. Market hogs weighing over 300 pounds will be given the options of not selling the hog or of selling at the 300 pound weight.

  3. Market hogs will be grouped into weight classes by a fair committee at the time they are weighed. The committee shall consist of representatives from the Vo-Ag Department, WVU Cooperative Extension Service and the Fair Association.

  4. The exhibitor will be required to keep their stall and space in clean condition by removing filth and litter, or may hire someone to do so. Prize money will be forfeited and a $50.00 fee assessed per animal if the stall is not cleaned after the animal is removed at the close of the fair.

  5. All animals must comply with health regulations of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture.  Click here for a printable version.
