GENERAL RULES
|
|
Along with general livestock rules, the following rules apply to swine.
|

Market hogs must be born on or after January 1, 2023.

Market hogs must be owned by exhibitors by May 1, 2023.

Market hogs must weigh between 200 and 300 pounds. Any market hog weighing less than 200 pounds is not eligible to be shown in 4-H and FFA classes in the market division or be sold through the livestock auction. Hogs weighing more than 300 pounds will not be eligible for Grand or Reserve. In addition, market hogs weighing over 300 pounds will have a selling weight of 300 pounds.

Market hogs will be grouped into weight classes by a fair committee at the time they are weighed. The committee shall consist of representatives from the Vo-Ag Department, WVU Cooperative Extension Service and the Fair Association.
